It stands for the LSD (社民连) League of Social Democrats. With that info you can now Google it. I however, being in Mainland China, will probably have Google blocked for doing so, lol. Also, please don't tell me to Baidu it, Baidu is a bloody piece of shit.

The drawings are very funny!
Democracy is only an illusion. Democracy is not good! Look at Western Europe. Decline is all sold, they do not represent the majority of people.
Crime in the skies. :(

A rajzod nagyon vices!
A demokrácia Csak illúzió.A demokrácia nem jó.Nézd meg Nyugat Europát. Hanyatlás van mindet eladnak, nem képviselik az emberek többségét.
Bűnözés az egekben. :(

I only recognise a couple of the people, but those are some great caricatures.

Who's the fellow with the grubby facial hair (sketch, middle left)? I swear I should know him, but I can't quite place it.

Actually a full list of the people on there would be cool too, but I'll leave that up to you man.

What's sad is if you weren't Chinese yourself, this would be considered racist.

I phrased it just how I meant it. There's also an artist that draws classically racist caricatures of black people. But people don't call it racist because the artist is black. I was making a comment on the double standards of racism. :T Though, admittedly, that has nothing to do with what this picture means.

can a caricature even be racist? you're emphasizing the traits of a person, which tend to be similar in people of the same race. it... makes them their race.

That emphasis in itself is what society considers racist. You won't see a Speedy Gonzales cartoon on tv anymore. They were all pulled because they're considered racist. The designer of Speedy didn't give him a sombrero because he's racist, but because it is something you quickly and easily associate with hispanic culture. But the people offended by it don't care, they just want it gone. :l

[I'm not sure this discussion needs my input, but I've written this so I'll go ahead and post it.]

I think the racism of Speedy Gonzales or Mammy, or something like that is not so much the aspect of caricature but the behaviors and social roles associated with a particular ethnic group (and the freedom of individuals to defy that stereotype). For instance, I've never met a Mexican or any Latino who wears a sombrero, or a Chinese person with a pony-tail, etc...

Just exaggerating someone's features isn't racist, unless it reinforces some sort of statement of superiority/inferiority.

Anyhow, I think the important thing is whether or not the pictures reflect the variety of personal and particular appearance, or just a stale cliche.

The ethnicity of the artist may have an effect on how comfortable people are at laughing at it and/or critiquing it, but I wouldn't go so far as to say it directly determines what you're calling racism.

P.S. I like the style, arrangement, and humor of this piece, and having just come back from HK I'm curious who the figures are.

ahh, i see. yeah, people do tend to overlook random racist things
aww, they don't play speedy gonzales anymore? i know they rarely play any old toons now, but i didn't realize they'd pulled him out. too bad, people are much too sensitive.
